Harriette Sackler is an Agatha Award-nominated short story writer. Her stories have appeared in a wide variety of anthologies and have addressed subjects both historical and contemporary. As a principal of Dames of Detection, she is a partner and editor at Level Best Books, which publishes mystery, thriller, and crime fiction short stories and novels.
Harriette has been a member of the Malice Domestic Board of Directors for over twenty years. As Grants Chair, she has a unique opportunity to encourage and support writers on the road to publication. Many of the recipients of the William F. Deeck-Malice Domestic Grant for Unpublished Writers have gone on to enjoy successful careers in the world of mystery fiction. One of Harriette’s favorite experiences was as an instructor for the Evergreen Society at Johns Hopkins University, where she taught the courses History of the Mystery and I Love a Mystery. Harriette holds a B.A. in Sociology/Psychology from Hunter College of the City University of New York and an M.A. in Counseling from the University of Maryland-College Park. She is a member of numerous organizations, to include Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime (National, Guppies, and Chesapeake), Crime Writers’ Association, Historical Novel Society, Eastern Shore Writers Association, and Short Mystery Fiction Society. |
